Custom process equipment for industrial applications.
One-off replacement equipment and new capital projects requiring custom design, heavy fabrication, specialty materials, or code-stamped construction.
When the project does not fit a category.
Harris Thermal engineers and fabricates custom heat-transfer and process equipment for industrial applications that do not always fit neatly into a single market category. Harris can support one-off replacement equipment and new capital projects requiring custom design, heavy fabrication, specialty materials or code-stamped construction.
The fabrication that does not fit a product category.
Heat exchangers, pressure vessels and evaporators have their own pages. This is the work that arrives without a category: frames, supports, one-off components, non-code equipment and assemblies built to a drawing for a specific project.
Structural & Support Fabrication
- Skid & Equipment FramesFrames that equipment is fit up onto in our shop.
- Vessel & Equipment SupportsSaddles, legs and support steel built for the equipment they carry.
- Ladders & PlatformsFit up in the shop to cut installation time on site.
- Shipping & Transport SupportsCradles and bracing sized for the load and the route.
Non-Code & Specialty Equipment
- Non-Code Fabricated EquipmentBuilt to the project specification where ASME code construction is not required.
- Project-Specific ComponentsFabricated parts made to your drawing.
- Custom Industrial FabricationsEquipment that exists as a single unit.
- Fabricated AssembliesMultiple components delivered as one assembly.
Unusual & One-Off Fabrication
- Concept-Design EquipmentWhere no standard design exists to build from.
- Wave-Energy EquipmentWave generators and related fabricated equipment.
- Unusual GeometryShapes and sizes that do not suit standard shop practice.
- Nuclear Test EquipmentBuilt under our NQA-1 quality program.
Piping & Ducting Assemblies
- B31.1 & B31.3 Code PipingHarris Thermal holds the ASME “PP” stamp for power piping.
- Prefabricated Pipe SpoolsFabricated to print and delivered ready to install.
- Gored Elbows & Alloy DuctingFormed and welded in alloy where the service requires it.
- Equipment AssembliesVessels, exchangers and process piping fit up as a unit — see other fabrication.
What Harris Thermal brings to an off-catalogue project.
Custom Equipment
Designed to your process conditions with in-house thermal and mechanical engineering, rather than selected from a catalog.
Heavy Fabrication
Large-diameter, heavy-wall and multi-component work carried out in our own shop.
Specialty Materials
High-alloy, clad and explosion-bonded construction.
Replacement Equipment
One-off replacements built to the geometry already in your plant.
Equipment built with its own features, not around a bought-out package.
Custom equipment incorporating project-specific internals, supports, piping interfaces, structural components and other fabricated features within Harris Thermal's scope. Pumps, instrumentation and controls are not part of our standard supply scope.
Codes & Standards
- ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 vessels
- ASME U-stamp for code vessels
- TEMA exchangers
- API 620 / 650 tanks
- Large-diameter & heavy-wall capacity
- Full QA/QC closeout documentation
General manufacturing equipment questions.
What equipment does Harris Thermal fabricate for general industrial applications?
Shell-and-tube heat exchangers, condensers, reboilers, process heaters and coolers, replacement exchangers and tube bundles, ASME Section VIII pressure vessels, process and mixing vessels, storage and custom tanks, evaporators, crystallizers, columns, scrubbers, cyclones, and other custom process equipment. Harris Thermal fabricates equipment for integration into your process; pumps, instrumentation and controls are not part of our standard supply scope.
Can Harris Thermal build a one-off or replacement piece of equipment?
Yes. A single custom vessel or exchanger is normal work here, not an exception. Replacement equipment can be built to existing envelope and nozzle geometry so it drops into the piping and supports already there, re-tubed where the shell is sound, or re-rated for a duty above the original basis. Existing drawings, field measurements or a reverse-engineered specification are all workable starting points.
What materials and construction methods are available?
Carbon steel, stainless steels, duplex stainless, AL-6XN, Hastelloy, Inconel, Monel, titanium and other qualified specialty materials, plus clad and explosion-bonded construction where a corrosion-resistant wetted surface over a structural carbon-steel backing suits the design. Large-diameter and heavy-wall work is handled in-house.
Have a project outside the usual categories?
Whether it is a standalone ASME vessel or a custom fabricated assembly, send us the duty and the constraints.
