Liquefied Natural Gas Equipment (LNG)

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) plays a critical role in the global energy supply chain, enabling efficient transport and storage of natural gas. The process begins with pre-treatment of feed gas to remove impurities such as H₂S, CO₂, H₂O, mercury, and higher hydrocarbons. Feed gas is then cooled to cryogenic temperatures between -145°C and -163°C, condensed, and stored in specialized double-wall insulated tanks for transport.

LNG facilities require robust, high-spec equipment engineered to withstand extreme temperatures, corrosive contaminants, and continuous duty cycles. Harris Thermal partners with LNG producers, EPCs, and OEMs to deliver ASME-code process equipment designed for safety, reliability, and long service life.

Our Equipment for LNG Processing

Gas Treatment and Pre-Conditioning

  • Absorber Towers & Columns – For CO₂, H₂S, and contaminant removal prior to liquefaction.
  • Scrubber Vessels – For particulates, acid gases, and mercury control.
  • Separator Vessels & Knock-Out Drums – For gas-liquid separation before cryogenic cooling.

Liquefaction and Cryogenic Systems

  • Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers – For pre-cooling, sub-cooling, and refrigerant cycle integration.
  • Condensers & Chillers – Applied in cascade and mixed-refrigerant systems.
  • Evaporators – For auxiliary services such as LNG regasification, boil-off gas management, or solvent recovery.

Storage and Handling

  • ASME-Certified Pressure Vessels – For refrigerants, solvents, and intermediate process fluids.
  • Cryogenic Storage Tanks – Double-wall insulated vessels designed for safe storage and transport.
  • Mixing & Utility Vessels – Supporting refrigerant blending, antifreeze systems, and utility fluids.

Ancillary and Balance-of-Plant Equipment

  • Crystallizers – For salt or by-product recovery in LNG water treatment systems.
  • Cyclones & Separators – For gas/liquid/solid separation in pre-treatment and boil-off gas handling.
  • Custom Skid Packages – Integrated exchangers, pumps, and vessels for modular plant systems.

Materials and Fabrication Expertise

  • Stainless steels (304L, 316L, duplex, AL-6XN) for cryogenic and corrosive service.
  • High-nickel alloys (Inconel, Hastelloy, Monel) for aggressive contaminants.
  • Carbon steel for select pressure vessels and structural applications.
  • ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 certification, TEMA-compliant exchangers, and API 620/650 tank standards.
  • Lethal Service Applications – ASME-certified vessels and reactors designed and stamped for handling lethal service fluids in compliance with ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 requirements.
  • Cyclic Service Applications – Equipment engineered for repeated pressure and temperature cycling, with design considerations for fatigue life, weld integrity, and long-term reliability.
